Sweety Kothari

Sweety Kothari founded KSMG & CO in 1998 and has since devoted over 28 years to advising businesses on tax and regulatory matters. A Chartered Accountant and consistent academic achiever, she works across the spectrum, from large corporations and multinational enterprises to MSMEs and growth-stage start-ups.

Her litigation practice reflects this breadth. Over nearly three decades, she has represented clients before the Investigation Wing, assessment and appellate authorities, the Settlement Commission, the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, and the Dispute Resolution Panel. This includes handling search and seizure proceedings under the Income Tax Act and representation under the Black Money Act, areas that demand both precision in law and composure under pressure.

On the advisory side, her practice encompasses transfer pricing, cross-border transactions, offshore investments, and the interpretation of double taxation avoidance agreements. She also advises families on business succession, guiding the transition of enterprises across generations, a process that requires as much sensitivity to relationships as it does to regulatory structure.

For Indian corporates and multinational corporations, she designs and implements tax compliance and regulatory frameworks, ensuring that these systems serve the business rather than merely satisfy statute. Her understanding of the Indian regulatory landscape allows her to address the distinct needs of domestic and international clients with equal rigour.

Her conviction, built over 28 years of practice, is a simple one: sound regulatory guidance is not separate from business strategy but fundamental to it.
